Mike Vales
Executive Director

Founder of the Mirabeau Family Learning Center, Mike has been in real estate development and management in New Orleans since 1980. He authored the Comprehensive Service Model which is designed to provide affordable workforce housing in conjunction with academic enrichment for low and moderate income families. Mr. Vales has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management from Loyola University of the South in New Orleans. He is also the recipient of the Spirit of Loyola Award for outstanding leadership and community service. He has had a general contractor’s license for over twenty five years and is a member of the National Association of Home Builders Remodelers.

Sister Mary Ellen A. Schroeder, SND
Sister Schroeder has ten years experience as an elementary school teacher and thirty years experience as an elementary school principal. She holds a Master's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She has won the 1993 National Catholic Educational Association Distinguished Principal's Award and the 2003 Central City Ministry of Toledo Urban All-American Service Award.

Sister Mary Nancy Vance, SND
Sister Vance has served as an elementary principal for 13 years and a Vice-Principal of a secondary school for 21 years. She holds a Master's of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Detroit. She has been Chair of Board of Trustees for Women Blessing Women, Chairperson of the Diversity Task Force Subcommittee of Advisory Council and a teacher of Language Arts, History and Religion.

Sister Kerstin Maria Deubel


Sister Deubel has been the Director of En Camino, a migrant and immigrant outreach center in Fostoria, OH for the past eleven years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University. She has also worked as a nurse and caregiver as well as a pre-school paraprofessional in Toledo, OH.
