The Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) of New Orleans each year provides a competitive grant opportunity for organizations in New Orleans. This year their theme was Children and Family. Mirabeau Family Learning Center (MFLC), where Sr. Mary Elen Schroeder is Director, submitted a grant. Thirteen (including MFLC) out of 28 applicants were invited to give a presentation to over 200 members of WGC. In the week that followed, the members voted for three of the grant applicants. The culmination and award ceremony included a Mass and luncheon. The WBC distributed $205,000 among these thirteen organizations. The top five received their full request, the next tiers received 85%, 50%, or $6,000 of their request. MFLC was third in the top five, so received their full request to update technology to support their BrainPower™ program (BPP).
