Founder of the Mirabeau Family Learning Center, Mike has been in real estate development and management in New Orleans since 1980. He authored the Comprehensive Service Model which is designed to provide affordable workforce housing in conjunction with academic enrichment for low and moderate income families. Mr. Vales has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management from Loyola University of the South in New Orleans. He is also the recipient of the Spirit of Loyola Award for outstanding leadership and community service. He has had a general contractor’s license for over twenty five years and is a member of the National Association of Home Builders Remodelers.
Sister Schroeder has 11 years experience as an elementary school teacher and 30 years experience as an elementary school principal. This is her 11th year as Co-Director of Mirabeau Family Learning Center. She received her Bachelor degree in Education from Mary Manse College. She earned a Master's Degree in School Administration and Reading Education from Bowling Green State University. She has won the 1993 National Catholic Educational Association Distinguished Principal's Award and the 2003 Central City Ministry of Toledo Urban All-American Service Award. Sister Schroeder began serving MFLC in 2010 and continues in the present.
